Foreigners living in eastern Iran receive 3,300 doses of vaccine: Official

Birjand, IRNA – Foreign nationals living in the eastern Iranian province of South Khorasan have received some 3,300 doses of vaccine against measles and rubella in the past 11 months, a medical provincial official has announced.

Foreign nationals living in the region have been vaccinated against infectious diseases since late September 2022, chairman of a medical group at Birjand University of Medical Sciences Mohammad-Reza Jam'avar told IRNA on Tuesday.

The official referred to an outbreak of infectious diseases including measles in Afghanistan, adding that Afghan nationals arriving in Iran via borders of South Khorasan are constantly vaccinated against diseases.

The official said those who have received vaccines are between nine months to 30 years old.

Iranian officials announced in February 2022 that foreign nationals, even those who had entered the country illegally, had been vaccinated against the coronavirus.
